Balloch witnesses urged to check cameras after fire

Police Scotland is asking people who were near Balloch Road or the local tow path early on Tuesday, 11 August, to report anything that could help an investigation into a deliberate fire.

Officers are particularly seeking private CCTV and dash-cam footage from the Balloch area. Anyone with information can call police on 101 and quote incident 0501 of 11 August 2026. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Fire reported at Balloch Road business premises

The fire was reported at about 3.25am on Tuesday. It affected an outbuilding at a business premises on Balloch Road, according to Police Scotland.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire. Police confirmed that no injuries were reported.

Investigators are treating the incident as wilful, meaning they believe the fire was started deliberately. Enquiries remain ongoing, and the supplied police statement does not identify a suspect or provide further details about the damage.

Detective Constable Martyn Cairns appealed specifically to anyone who was in the Balloch area, including the local tow path, and may have information about relevant activity.

“Anyone who was within the Balloch area, specifically the local tow path,” and who may be able to assist is asked to get in touch, Detective Constable Cairns said. The same request applies to anyone holding private CCTV or dash-cam footage that could support the enquiry.
