Causeway Coast favourites take centre stage on 17 September

Twenty years after it was established, Causeway Speciality Market will celebrate the traders and products that have shaped its regular market days. The anniversary awards ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, 17 September 2026, in Causeway Coast and Glens.

The event is free and intended for the general public. Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has not specified the exact venue, address or start time, and its announcement does not describe a separate booking process for attending. Anyone planning to go should check the organiser’s latest information before setting out.

Three awards shaped by regular shoppers

Public voting is now open online for the Causeway Speciality Market Anniversary Awards. Shoppers can recognise the stalls and products that have become familiar favourites or highlight something they have discovered more recently.

The ballot covers three categories:

  • Favourite Market Stall
  • Best Artisan Food Product
  • Best Artisan Craft Product

The categories reflect the market’s mix of local produce, tempting treats, handmade pieces and one-of-a-kind craft finds. They also give voters several ways to support traders: by recognising the overall stall experience or selecting an individual food or craft product.

Voting takes place through the council’s Causeway Speciality Market public ballot. The announcement does not state a closing date, so people who want to take part should submit their choices while voting remains open. The online ballot helps determine the winners but is not presented as a ticket or attendance booking for the ceremony.

Two decades of twice-monthly market days

Established in 2006, Causeway Speciality Market is described by the council as Northern Ireland’s largest regular outdoor market. It brings traders, makers and producers together on the second and fourth Saturday of every month, giving shoppers repeated opportunities to discover their work.

That regular schedule has allowed some traders to build a presence over many years. For newer businesses, the market has offered a platform to introduce products to customers. The anniversary awards bring those different journeys into the same celebration, with established favourites appearing alongside newer stalls and ideas.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Councillor Dawn Huggins said every trader had played a part in making the market what it is today. She encouraged shoppers to support both long-standing favourites and recent discoveries, describing the awards as a way of putting traders centre stage.

Winners will be revealed on 17 September

The successful stalls and products will be announced during the Causeway Speciality Market 20th anniversary celebrations on Thursday, 17 September. No ceremony programme, venue or start time was included in the council’s published announcement.

Voting is open now through the Causeway Speciality Market public ballot, covering one favourite stall and the strongest artisan food and craft products. The winners will be named as part of the anniversary awards ceremony on 17 September.
