Students receiving GCSE, A-level, T-level or other exam results can access free Connexions careers advice in Wolverhampton from Tuesday 18 August 2026. Advisers will hold weekday drop-in sessions at the Civic Centre from 12pm to 2pm until Monday 7 September, with no booking required.
The sessions are open to young people considering their next step after receiving results. They are aimed particularly at those who have not yet secured a place in education, employment or training for September. The City of Wolverhampton Council says the advice is impartial and available regardless of a student’s results.

What Connexions advisers can help with
The drop-ins are intended to give students a practical way to review their available routes during the weeks immediately following results. Advisers can provide careers education, information and guidance, including support with:

- Exploring post-16 education, employment and training options
- Finding and applying for apprenticeships
- Signing up with colleges or training providers
- Planning longer-term career steps
Students do not need to have settled on a preferred route before attending. The service is specifically available to help those who remain unsure or who need assistance turning an option into an application or confirmed September destination.
Councillor Jacqui Coogan, the council’s Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, said support was available whatever results a young person had received. She encouraged students to discuss their choices and explore further education, work and training without feeling that they must make the decision alone.
Support at five schools on GCSE results day
Connexions advisers will also be present at five Wolverhampton schools on GCSE results day, Thursday 20 August: Our Lady of St Chads Academy, Smestow Academy, Moseley Park Academy, Vireo Academy and Kairos Academy.

Information and guidance resources are being provided to other city schools so their students can also access support with post-16 choices. Students should use the Civic Centre sessions or contact Connexions directly if they cannot speak to an adviser through their school.
How to get advice outside the Civic Centre sessions
Connexions runs a regular drop-in every Monday afternoon at i10 Unit 5, Victoria Square, Wolverhampton. The council did not specify the hours of that weekly session in its announcement.
