Civic Centre closures begin the day before the race

Setting up the race village requires a longer closure than the four-hour race-day window. King Edward VII Avenue, Corbett Road, Museum Avenue, City Hall Road, College Road and Gorsedd Gardens Road will close from 5am on September 5 until 6pm on September 6.

That schedule means the first traffic changes begin more than a day before the runners set off. The restrictions also remain in place for five hours after the rolling closures are due to finish.

Rolling closures cover central and western Cardiff

From 9am until 1pm on September 6, rolling restrictions will operate along an extensive route. The central section includes North Road, the A1461, Kingsway, Duke Street, Castle Street, Boulevard de Nantes, The Friary, Friary Gardens, Westgate Street, Wood Street, Golate, Guildhall Place, Quay Street, Central Square, Scott Road, Havelock Street and Park Street.

St Mary Street will be affected between Mill Lane and Guildhall Place, while High Street will close between Castle Street and Guildhall Place. The route also reaches Cowbridge Road East, Tudor Street, Fitzhamon Embankment, Despenser Street, Despenser Lane, Despenser Place, Plantaganet Street, Beauchamp Street, Clare Street, Lower Cathedral Road, Brook Street, Mark Street, Green Street and Coldstream Terrace.

Further restrictions are listed for Neville Street, inbound Wellington Street, Cathedral Road and every side road that exits onto Cathedral Road. The council notice also names Sophia Close, Sophia Walk, Spine Road in Sophia Gardens, Plasturton Place and nearby residential streets including Dyfrig Street, Kyveilog Street, Sneyd Street, Dogo Street, Teilo Street, Fairleigh Road, Fields Park Road and Denbigh Street. Penhill Road will be affected inbound from the Llandaff Road and Cardiff Road junction.

Managed access continues after the rolling closures

Access arrangements will remain in force at several points. Blackweir access will be available through Park Place and Corbett Road, while access to Queen Anne Square will be managed through Colum Road and Corbett Road. Vehicles leaving Queen Anne Square will be directed along Corbett Road towards Colum Road.

The banned right turn from Colum Road into Corbett Road will be temporarily lifted only to serve Queen Anne Square, under the control of traffic-management stewards. A lane closure will also operate on Western Avenue from Excelsior Road to the Mill Lane junction.
