Lincolnshire County Council’s Leaving Care Service has been shortlisted for the Leaving Care Award at the Children & Young People Now Awards 2026. The nomination recognises its work helping care-experienced young people make the transition into adulthood.

Lincolnshire service named on national shortlist

The council confirmed the shortlisting on 18 August. The Leaving Care Award is the category recognising the team’s work, with the competition’s winners due to be announced at the end of November.

Cllr Natalie Oliver, Executive Councillor for Children’s Services, credited the team’s “dedication, commitment and passion”. She said staff work with young people who can have complex needs while continuing to seek opportunities and positive experiences for them.

The announcement confirms a nomination rather than an award win. It does not include individual case details or service outcome figures.

Support from housing to health and wellbeing

The service advises care-experienced young people on decisions they may face as they establish independent adult lives. Its remit covers where to live, employment, learning and money, as well as relationships, health and wellbeing.

This means the team’s role extends beyond accommodation, bringing several practical areas of support together during the move out of council care. Young people who have left the care of Lincolnshire County Council can find further details through the council’s Leaving Care information page.

Award result expected in November

No precise ceremony date was included in the council’s announcement. The next confirmed milestone is the publication of the Children & Young People Now Awards results at the end of November.
