Four free fireworks nights return to Poole and Bournemouth

Four free summer fireworks displays will take place at Poole Quay and Bournemouth beach between 27 August and 4 September 2026. The events are open to the general public, require no booking and begin at 10pm.

Poole Quay will host displays on 27 August and 3 September, while Bournemouth beach will host them on 28 August and 4 September, according to Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council.

The council confirmed the programme following discussions with partners, including the emergency services, and a reduction in the wildfire risk across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. One previously cancelled display has been rearranged, with the additional event taking place at no extra cost to the council.

Fireworks dates, venues and start times

The schedule gives spectators a choice of two waterfront locations across consecutive weeks. Poole Quay hosts the first display in each pair, followed by Bournemouth beach on the next listed date. All four displays share the same confirmed 10pm start time.

The September dates provide a second opportunity at each venue for people unable to attend the late-August events. The last display in the announced programme is at Bournemouth beach on 4 September.

Live entertainment before the Poole Quay displays

The Poole Quay events will feature live music and family entertainment leading up to the fireworks finale. The council announcement does not provide separate start times or a detailed running order for those activities, so only the 10pm fireworks start is confirmed.

No additional programme has been announced for the Bournemouth beach dates. For those events, the confirmed attraction is the fireworks display beginning at 10pm.

Councillor Richard Herrett, BCP Council’s portfolio holder for destination, leisure and commercial operations, described the displays as a summer highlight for residents and visitors. He also encouraged spectators to enjoy the events responsibly.

Attendance is free and no booking is required. The council identifies Poole Quay and Bournemouth beach as the venues, but its announcement does not include precise addresses, transport guidance or accessibility information.

Anyone choosing between the locations should note that only Poole Quay has confirmed pre-fireworks entertainment. The first event is there on 27 August, when live music and family activities will lead up to the 10pm finale.
