The programme will take place across Chatham High Street and the Pentagon Shopping Centre and is aimed at families from across Medway.

Entry is free, with no booking requirement stated in the published announcement. Medway Council has not provided a start or finish time.

The two central Chatham locations will host different parts of the family programme. The council’s announcement does not specify where individual attractions will be positioned, so visitors may need to explore both the High Street and the shopping centre to see what is available.

Superheroes, classic cars and creative activities

Visitors will be able to get close to cars associated with cinema classics and take photographs with them. The programme also includes a hero-themed trail, mask designing and opportunities for children to meet favourite superheroes.

A giant Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters is among the announced attractions. Together, the trail and creative activities give families several ways to take part beyond viewing the character displays and vehicles.

Medway Council services and partner organisations will also attend. Their role will be to explain how they support families locally and provide an opportunity to learn more about the work of the Child-Friendly Medway team.

Super Saturday is being delivered in partnership with Love Chatham and the Pentagon Shopping Centre. It is partially funded through the Medway Together Fund, according to Medway Council’s event announcement.

Practical details that have not yet been published

The council notice does not include opening hours, transport guidance, accessibility arrangements or detailed booking instructions. Families who need those details should consult the council’s Super Saturday page before travelling. In particular, the absence of published opening and closing times means visitors should not assume that activities will be available throughout the day.

Final opportunity to vote for Medway’s first Young Mayor

Super Saturday also marks the final opportunity for children and young people to vote for Medway’s first Young Mayor. Councillor Adam Price, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services, encouraged families to attend both for the entertainment and to find out about Child-Friendly Medway’s work.

Children and young people wishing to take part in the Young Mayor decision will therefore need to cast their vote at Super Saturday on 29 August.
