Limavady Residents Invited to Design New Town Centre Banners

Limavady residents of all ages are being invited to help shape how their town centre looks by designing artwork for a new series of public banners. Entry is free, and sealed submissions must reach the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council office at 7 Connell Street, Limavady, BT49 0HA, by 4:00pm on Monday, 7 September 2026.

The competition is open to everyone, from experienced artists and photographers to painters, sketchers and residents with a strong visual idea. It is being run by the council’s Town & Village Management Team in partnership with Limavady Town Centre Forum and Fibrus Broadband.

What the new banners should say about Limavady

Organisers want the designs to explore the theme “Limavady is Home – The Best Place to Work, Shop, Eat & Enjoy Local.” Entrants can interpret that through the parts of the town and surrounding area that matter to them personally.

The source suggests possible subjects including the town centre’s community, independent shops, cafés, restaurants and other businesses, as well as the River Roe, Binevenagh Mountain and local landscapes. Limavady’s heritage, history, arts, music and sport could also provide inspiration.

That leaves room for both recognisable places and more personal perspectives: a favourite Roe Valley view, a familiar part of the town centre, a local business or an aspect of Limavady’s cultural life. The work can be submitted as a drawing, painting, photograph, sketch or other creative visual concept.

Design requirements before you enter

All artwork must be the entrant’s own original creation and should use a portrait, or vertical, format. Designs need proportions of approximately 2:1 in height to width and must be at least A4 portrait size.

Each entry also needs a title and a short explanation of the inspiration behind it. This gives entrants space to connect the image with the competition theme and explain what their chosen subject says about Limavady.

Participants retain ownership and copyright of their work. By entering, however, they grant the council a non-exclusive licence to reproduce and display a winning design as part of the town-centre banner series.

What winners will receive

Selected designs will be professionally developed into banners and displayed throughout Limavady town centre. The successful artists will be credited on the printed banners, giving residents and visitors a clear link between each image and its creator.
