Then visit the home club’s official website or app. Stadium names alone may not provide enough information: supporters may need a particular entrance, turnstile, stand or digital-ticket procedure. Away supporters should also check the club’s visitor guidance, including any restrictions on bags and permitted arrival routes.

A fixture shown for one time when travel is first considered may later be amended. Recheck the Premier League and club pages immediately before buying a non-refundable ticket, then repeat the check on the morning of travel. Build the rail plan around a realistic return service

Social-media sellers can disappear after payment, while ticket screenshots may be copied, altered, cancelled or sent to several buyers. Some venues also require a live digital pass rather than a static image.

Be particularly careful if a seller creates urgency, refuses to use an official transfer process or requests an unusual payment method. Bank transfers, cryptocurrency, gift cards or payments moved outside a platform’s protected checkout can leave the buyer with limited options if the ticket never arrives.

Do not share account passwords or one-time security codes. If a suspected fraudulent sale has taken place, preserve the messages and payment details, contact the payment provider or platform promptly and report the incident through Action Fraud.

Leave enough time for the stadium’s final checks

Aim to reach the stadium area well before kick-off. Local transport becomes busier close to the match, and security searches, ticket activation problems or queues at the correct entrance can delay admission.

On departure day, make one final three-page check: the Premier League fixture listing for the time and venue, the club website for ticket and entrance instructions, and National Rail for disruption. Those live services are the most useful indicators that the original match-travel plan still works.
