Tywi Valley Path Festival opens bookings in Carmarthenshire

Wildlife watching, weaving, castles and Nordic walking all feature in the first Tywi Valley Path Festival of Walks, running from 16 September to 4 October 2026 between Carmarthen and Llandeilo. Bookings are now open for the guided programme, which is designed for walkers of all abilities and interests. The official announcement does not specify prices.

Dates, locations and festival experiences

The six programme themes are spread across seven dates, allowing walkers to select an experience that matches their interests.

The wildlife session and Weave and Walk workshop provide alternatives to a conventional guided hike. Other dates connect walking with the valley’s castles, gardens, rivers and parkland, while the two Nordic walking sessions give participants a choice of dates for a technique-focused activity.

Exploring the newly completed Tywi Valley Path

The Tywi Valley Path was officially opened in May following its recent completion. It runs through countryside between Carmarthen and Llandeilo, taking in riverside landscapes, historic landmarks and wildlife habitats.

The festival is the latest council initiative intended to encourage residents and visitors to use the route and discover the places and stories associated with it. Walters Group is supporting the event after being contracted to install landmark bridges across the Rivers Tywi and Cothi. According to the council, the bridges have improved access and connectivity along the path.

Cllr Hazel Evans, Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism, described the festival as an opportunity to discover the route’s scenery alongside its heritage, wildlife and stories.
