Darley Park Weekender sets three August nights in Derby

The Darley Park Weekender will return to Darley Park in Derby from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 August 2027, giving residents three nights of live music to place in next summer’s calendar. The festival is presented as an all-ages event, with separate Friday, Saturday and Sunday programmes.

Derby LIVE and Derby City Council will stage the weekend. Booking is already open for the Sunday Darley Park Concert, although the published notice does not state a ticket price. Start times, a full venue address, transport guidance and accessibility arrangements have not yet been provided.

Three nights with distinct musical programmes

The announced format follows the Weekender’s established three-part structure. Friday is reserved for headline acts, while Saturday will bring another headline programme to the park. The names of the performers for both nights are due to be released later.

Sunday shifts the focus to the Darley Park Concert, featuring East Midlands orchestra Sinfonia Viva. It is the only part of the 2027 weekend for which the source confirms that tickets are currently on sale.

That split gives audiences a choice between two nights built around popular music and a closing orchestral concert. Anyone waiting to choose a night based on specific performers will need to hold off until Derby LIVE publishes the Friday and Saturday line-ups.

The previous Weekender shows how the format works

The 2026 edition opened with a sold-out Friday performance headlined by Billy Ocean. Marti Pellow, Katrina, DJ Mark Angels and local act Cassette Roulette also appeared during the evening.

JLS led the Saturday programme, joined by Appleton and Chesney Hawkes. Derby band The Public Eye opened the night, continuing the event’s practice of placing local musicians on the same weekend programme as nationally known performers.

The Sunday concert was performed by Sinfonia Viva under conductor Stephen Bell. Its Stage and Screen programme combined music from Apollo 13 and Beauty and the Beast with works by Mozart and Tchaikovsky. Vocalists Juliette Crosbie and Red, the UHDB Staff Wellbeing Choir and the Derby Harp Ensemble also took part.

The weekend ended with pyrotechnics and a laser display during the Sunday concert. Those details describe the 2026 event and should not be read as confirmation of the production, programme or performers planned for 2027.

Friday and Saturday line-ups are the next milestone

Derby City Council’s event report confirms the dates and venue but leaves the two headline bills unresolved. Acts for Friday 20 August and Saturday 21 August will be announced in due course, while the Darley Park Concert occupies Sunday 22 August.
