Lexus Junior Nationals bring line tech to Nottingham, 14-23 August

Electronic line calling will operate across every match court at the Lexus Junior National Championships in Nottingham from 14 to 23 August. The national tournament takes place at the Lexus Nottingham Tennis Centre and will put the technology directly into junior competition.

The change is most relevant to junior players, coaches, officials and parents attending the championships. Electronic calls will cover every match court

PlayReplay’s Electronic Line Calling system, commonly shortened to ELC, provides real-time decisions on line calls. Its deployment across all match courts means the technology will form part of the competition environment throughout the championships rather than being confined to a single demonstration court.

The system also offers coaching tools and analytics, although the LTA has specifically confirmed the use of electronic line calling at this tournament. The source does not say which additional features, if any, will be available to competitors during the event.

The championship deployment follows a PlayReplay pilot at the LTA’s National Tennis Centre in London. It also comes after the system received World Tennis certification. Junior competition becomes the next test

LTA Managing Director for Tennis Development Oliver Scadgell described the introduction as a step towards improving competition experiences for players, officials, coaches and parents across the tennis pathway. For the young competitors in Nottingham, it brings technology previously associated with the highest professional level into a national junior tournament.

PlayReplay chief executive Hans Lundstam said the partnership represents the inaugural introduction of ELC to junior tennis in Britain. The Nottingham championships will therefore provide a live competition setting following the earlier controlled pilot in London.

The technology is intended to support fair play while making tennis more data-driven and interactive. Its use in Nottingham will show how electronic calls fit into matches involving junior players and the officials responsible for running a national-level competition.

Fixed systems are also planned for Nottingham

The tournament trial is part of a wider installation programme. PlayReplay is set to place fixed systems on every indoor court at both the National Tennis Centre and the Lexus Nottingham Tennis Centre.

The company already works with tennis organisations including the USTA, Tennis Canada, Germany’s DTB and the Swedish Tennis Federation. Earlier in 2026, the USTA and PlayReplay also agreed to provide ELC across all hard-court World Tennis Tour events in the United States for five years.

In Nottingham, the immediate confirmed milestone is the championship deployment from 14 to 23 August, followed by fixed electronic line-calling systems across the venue’s indoor courts.
